What To Expect
We hope to make your first visit and every session thereafter as smooth as possible. Below, we have provided some of our most frequently asked questions and general insurance info. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our office if you have any other questions!
The Path to Successful Sessions
We begin with a comprehensive and thorough observation process and end with a plan for your child's success. This process is completed over 2 - 3 sessions, totaling approximately 4 - 6.5 hours. Here's what you can expect:
Step 2: Meet Services Coordinator
Our Service Coordinator will work with you to ensure we receive all required documentation to submit to your insurance or other third-party funder(s). While not all funders require them, the following is a list of documents we may need to set up services:
-
Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation report from a qualified health professional
-
Referral/Prescription for ABA services containing patient name, date of birth, specific ICD10 diagnosis code, reason for referral (ABA therapy, evaluation, and treatment), physician name, and physician signature (must be by MD or DO)
-
Completed Intake Forms
-
Copy of front and back of insurance card(s)
Step 3: Observation & Assessment
Observation: We will watch and assess your child in a comfortable setting. This allows us to pay attention to behaviors and areas of concern.
Caregiver Interviews: This allows us to learn more about your child's background and how we can better shape a plan for successful outcomes.
Forms & Records Review: The BCBA will review relevant records and work with you to fill out any required consents and other forms. This helps us gather detailed information about your child's history and current needs.
Step 4: Treatment Plan Developement
Goal Setting: We’ll identify specific goals and clear objectives to focus on, tailored to your child’s needs. This step will lay the foundation of our treatment plan.
Discussion: We will discuss the results of our assessment and review what we learned in our observation phase. We can also cover any goals you have.
Creation of Treatment Plan: We will draft a personalized treatment plan based on the information collected and submit it to your insurance for approval.
Plan Implementation & Ongoing Services
Upon approval of the treatment plan, the client's assigned clinical team will implement the agreed-upon plan and ensure protocols are followed and the client is making progress. Clients' authorization for ongoing services are resubmitted every 3-6 months in order to continue ABA services at Reaching Hands; services are faded and the client is discharged when goals are met.
